Low Carbon City Sustainable Green Expo

As an important spatial unit for human survival and development, cities are both the main source of various environmental problems and the impact of environmental changes, and also an important driving force for improving the global ecological environment.

In July 4th, the Forum on "environmental change and urban responsibility" concluded in World Expo.

The vocabulary of production and life mode has become a hot topic at home and abroad.

Journalists feel the same way. When the concept of green revolution is gradually gaining popularity, what we are more eager to get is the specific path to green.

Practice "

green

"Urban responsibility is in progress."

"At 10 o'clock in the evening, we passed the Finland Pavilion in the C area, and the staff invited us to visit it. When I walked into the open-air square in the museum and looked up at the sky, I saw the stars!" commentator Cao Jinghang sighed. "I really feel that World Expo has brought about the hope of environmental change."

This is confirmed by Hong Hao, director of the Shanghai World Expo Bureau.

From the preparation of World Expo to the holding, the measures of "Low Carbon Expo" are being implemented one by one: 50% of the green coverage in the park; more than 60% of the road surface is made of recycled materials; the proportion of clean energy and renewable energy is more than 50%; and the "one axle four Pavilion" solar photovoltaic power accumulates to 1 million 770 thousand kwh.

"We hope that Shanghai and World Expo can brighten the bright future of the low-carbon economy era."

Hong Hao said that environmental issues are related to the future of the city. The city needs to develop and progress in response to environmental changes. Low Carbon Expo promotes the construction of low carbon cities. Shanghai is taking positive actions to answer the plaguing and difficult problems of urbanization brought about by industrialization.

Cesar Rafael Chavez, director of the Department of urban traffic and tourism promotion of the Ministry of environmental protection of Mexico, pointed out that the disorderly expansion of cities has brought serious challenges such as the burden of infrastructure and the decline of air quality, so as to achieve the goal of low carbon cities. It is not only to follow some principles of teaching Coveri, but also to implement them in action. The government should know how to use the policy tools flexibly and improve the carrying capacity of cities, so as to bring a better life to the citizens living in the city.

When low-carbon and environmental protection become a common understanding, it is the responsibility of cities to pform them into visible realities.

Chantal Gagnon, director of the environment and Sustainable Development Bureau of Montreal, Canada, shared with the participants the case of environmental complex in Saint Michel.

There were quarries and landfills in San Michel, and noise and environmental pollution affected the lives of the surrounding residents.

To restore the ecological environment in this area, the Montreal municipal government launched the restoration project under the participation of 180 organizations: they set up a landfill gas control system, set up a sewage treatment system, and launched afforestation projects. "We also plan to open an exhibition area for ecological education, where people can exchange experiences and participate in the environmental protection of the whole city better."

Michael Walsh, the environmental consultant, said that the mode of "rail pit + public pport" in Shanghai is "a great mode of pportation and urban governance". It is expected that more cities can further innovate the urban management mode from the perspective of sustainable development and carry out "green" to the end.

Sustainable building is expected to turn into "meritorious service"

The citizens of the city who enjoy the charm of architecture may be "self accusation". The figures of the United Nations Environment Programme are astonishing. The carbon dioxide emissions of global 1/3 come from the construction industry, but sustainable construction is expected to turn buildings from the "chief culprit" of carbon emissions to a powerful contributor to emission reduction.

The director of the Department of sustainable consumption and production of the United Nations Environment Programme, Arabia, has only visited an apartment in Nanjing yesterday. He exclaimed: "outside the apartment is a high temperature of more than 30 degrees Celsius. There is no air conditioning in the apartment, but it is cooler than the air conditioning."

This sustainable building, said by Mr. Ho, is not unfamiliar to Wang Shi, the chairman of the real estate giant Vanke.

Vanke has a Vanke Building Research Center. The center has built a tower. The tower is built on termite's nest principle, heat insulation during the day, heat dissipation at night, and use breeze, garbage to generate electricity and natural water. Therefore, it does not need electricity in the market and no municipal drip.

Wang Shi said: "this technology is actually quite mature and can be used in the urban community."

More mature technologies in the field of sustainable architecture are just around the corner.

In the Shanghai Expo Garden, the Portuguese pavilion features a distinctive cork wall, a zero carbon Museum in London, a green roof in Malmo, a green house in Vancouver, a cherry tunnel in Osaka, and a sunrise house in the city of Germany.

However, the popularity of these green buildings seems to be low at home and abroad.

Wang Shi admitted that the domestic real estate development projects to implement sustainable building standards of less than 5%.

The Arabia Department of sustainable consumption and production, director of the UNEP, said that many builders did not feel the benefits of energy conservation. Some local governments also believed that the provision of energy-efficient facilities, especially for low rent housing, was extravagant.

He suggested that action must involve government participation, good policy framework and legal support, and financial support.

"In fact, the government should take the lead because many buildings are actually owned by the government, and these government buildings should be the first to be built as sustainable buildings and play an exemplary role."
