In September 20th, New York Street brand Supreme confirmed to the media that it would close the Lafayette St. store in New York, and the shop front windows had been posted "rent for rent" posters.
Supreme, the old New York store, located at 274 Lafayette street, was opened in April 1994 and has been there for nearly 25 years. The first T-shirt designed by the brand is on sale here, which can be regarded as the birthplace of brand. In February of this year, Supreme announced through Instagram that it would renovate the Lafayette St. store and temporarily move to the new site, Manhattan, 190 Bowery. Today, Supreme has decided to close the Lafayette St. store. It also means that the 190 Bowery store will be upgraded from temporary store to Supreme's new flagship store in New York.
Supreme brand was born in Manhattan, New York in 1994. It was founded by British James Jebbia. It is a popular street fashion brand that combines popular culture trends such as skateboarding and Hip-hop.
New York Lafayette St. store is the first store opened by Supreme, opened in April 1994. Supreme's original main product was related to the skateboard movement that was just rising in New York. The store attracted many New York skateboard lovers and street artists to come and gather together, including the late actor Justin Pierce, Harold Hunter and others. The first batch of staff in the store were mass actors in the electric shadow "Kids". Later Supreme gradually developed into a representative of street culture in New York.
With the development of the brand, Supreme began to enter the international market such as Britain and Japan. The British fashion group GIMME5 brought the brand to London, and the trend Godfather Teng Yuan Hao and the popular idol Kubozuka Yousuke brought it to Japan.
