Recently, the Swedish fast fashion giant H&M's H&M Foundation (H&M Foundation) announced the 5 innovation projects of the Global Change Award, including: cultivating cotton in laboratory, making fabric with protein DNA technology, tracking fiber supply chain with block chain technology, sewage treatment and producing sustainable polyester fiber with carbon dioxide.

This is the fifth year that the H&M foundation has held the global change award award, aiming to absorb more disruptive innovations and promote the development of the fashion industry in a sustainable way.

"In such an uncertain era, it is important to find and encourage ideas that can contribute to the sustainable future for us and future generations," H&M said.

The award winning 5 projects were selected from 5893 entries from 175 countries. At present, the H&M foundation is committed to bringing the award-winning projects into an accelerated innovation project launched by the foundation in collaboration with the international consulting firm Accenture (Accenture) and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Accenture). In this way, the winning projects can better link up with the fashion industry and speed up the entry of these projects into the market.

The following is a brief introduction to the awards for the 5 projects:

The US Biotech Corp GALY's "Incredible Cotton" project has successfully developed cotton in the laboratory using biotechnology, and GALY has won a prize of 300 thousand euros with this project.

Werewool, a wool product development company in the United States, has developed a sustainable fiber fabric with natural color and elasticity by using protein DNA technology and won a prize of 250 thousand euros. These fabrics have natural properties on one hand and biodegradability on the other.

TextileGenesis, a India fabric technology company, has been awarded a 150 thousand euro prize through a transparent and reliable block chain technology to track the sustainable fiber supply chain. TextileGenesis has been committed to building a traceability platform for clothing ecosystems, and the vision is to achieve transparency from fiber production to clothing sales.

SeaChange Technologies, a start-up company in the US industrial wastewater treatment, mainly challenges traditional methods and technologies to contribute to the sustainable development of the earth. The company provides a revolutionary solution to deal with wastewater treatment and toxic sludge disposal. The innovative wastewater treatment system is combined with the existing production and operation of the plant without changing the existing supply chain and production materials. It deserves a prize of 150 thousand euros.

Fairbrics, a French fabric technology company, used carbon dioxide as the raw material to make synthetic fabrics. They made some seemingly impossible things come true. Fairbrics used the air to make fabrics, and by virtue of this project, it won a prize of 150 thousand euros.

In recent years, H&M has been committed to achieving sustainable development through innovation.
