Britain and New Zealand held the first round of video consultation talks on free trade agreement from July 13 to 24, 2020. The two sides held comprehensive discussions on various areas of the trade agreement. In addition, important agendas such as women's economic empowerment, trade and development, indigenous trade, clean growth and climate change are discussed, and ensuring that SMEs benefit from free trade agreements.

At present, the two sides plan to hold a second round of talks in October and issue a joint statement according to the progress of the consultation. In addition, when assessing the security situation, face-to-face negotiations will be considered in the second round of talks.

Britain is getting closer to reaching a free trade agreement (FTA) with New Zealand. The two countries will negotiate through a video conference from July 13 to 24, 2020, covering a comprehensive discussion of various areas of the trade agreement.

Both countries stressed their desire to strengthen cooperation in areas including strengthening digital trade, promoting cross-border trade in services and investment, reducing customs procedures, reducing uncertainty and burden on exporters, and promoting good regulatory practices.
