Dr. Liang Xiaohui, chief researcher of the social responsibility Office of China Textile Industry Federation, said that the project will cooperate in the next two years to help China invest in textile enterprises and the sustainable development of local supply chain in Africa, which is the first stop of such trilateral cooperation projects in Africa and the first formal project of the soon established "China Corporate Social Responsibility Alliance in Africa".

In recent years, under the support of China's national policy, many textile enterprises have begun to upgrade their manufacturing business overseas. Especially with the continuous development of trade between China and Ethiopia, the total trade volume continues to rise. Ethiopia has gradually become a hot country for China to invest in Africa, attracting more and more Chinese investors. According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and development (UNCTAD), China has become the largest investor in Ethiopia in 2019, accounting for 60% of newly approved FDI projects.

Ethiopia is located in the east of Africa. Ethiopia is now becoming one of the world's fastest growing investment destinations for infrastructure. In particular, the textile and clothing industry has become the top priority of the Ethiopian government in the introduction of foreign direct investment, export promotion and overall industrial development planning. From the perspectives of policy, economy, resources, human resources, taxation and trade, Ethiopia's textile and garment industry has great investment advantages and development prospects, which can be called the new blue ocean of textile industry.

China, Germany and Ethiopia's "trilateral cooperation project on Sustainable Textile investment and operation" will continuously improve and improve the environmental protection, social relations and workers' operation standards of the textile industry in Ethiopia, and is committed to cultivating the brand awareness of Chinese investors, factory managers and local partners, so as to help them expand and replicate their potential businesses in Africa and Asia Pacific region 。 This will not only help to build Ethiopia into an emerging market production center of the global textile and clothing industry and a regional center for OEM manufacturers, but also bring fruitful results of cooperation among the three countries in political, economic and social fields.
