According to the October cotton outlook report released by the U.S. Department of agriculture, the cotton consumption of global cotton processing plants is expected to be 114.2 million bales in 2020 / 21, a year-on-year increase of 12%, of which China and India have the highest growth. The consumption of Pakistan, Bangladesh and other countries increased slightly on a year-on-year basis.

In 2020 / 21, the global cotton production is expected to be 116.3 million bales, the lowest level in four years, because the decline of sown area exceeds the impact of the increase of yield per unit area.
