Tiangong University Intelligent Textiles Help Winter Olympics

Recently, led by Professor Liu Hao of the school of textile science and engineering of Tianjin University of technology, the project team of national key R & D Program "Winter Olympics of science and technology" donated wearable self heating products to Winter Olympic athletes, and carried out scientific and technological support activities for the training of Winter Olympic athletes.

Recently, due to the strong cold air, the temperature in Chongli, Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, where the Beijing Winter Olympics is held, has dropped to - 35 ℃. As an important training site for Winter Olympic athletes, the temperature in Taizi city of Chongli district is as low as - 40 ℃. Many athletes who insist on training have frostbite to varying degrees on their faces and hands.

Heating gloves

As a scientific research personnel of the "scientific and technological Winter Olympics" project team, Liu Hao immediately organized the project team to conduct research and tackle key problems, and used the technical advantages of the project team to cooperate with relevant enterprises to rapidly produce 167 pairs of self heating gloves for Winter Olympic athletes. In order to deliver the gloves to the athletes as soon as possible, Liu Hao personally led the team members to drive nearly 400 kilometers in spite of the cold, and successfully delivered the gloves to the Winter Olympic staff. In order to further support the training of Winter Olympic athletes, the project team has also processed 450 sets of self heating head covers, which will be delivered to athletes in succession.

Temperature controlled headgear or mask

It is reported that Liu Hao will undertake the national key R & D project of "science and technology Winter Olympics" in 2019, and will be the main R & D work of key technology of winter low temperature resistant clothing in the key technology research and development project of high performance clothing for winter sports and training competition.

Since the establishment of the project, the school has made full use of the "double first-class" discipline advantages, organized relevant personnel to jointly tackle key problems, overcome the adverse effects of the epidemic situation, and strive to produce wearable self heating high-end sports goods with good performance, high safety coefficient and comfortable body feeling from the material to the process. At present, the project team has achieved breakthroughs in heating fabric based on flexible carbon paper, embroidery heating fabric based on conductive yarn and integrated molding heating clothing based on silver plated yarn, so that scientific and technological achievements can be successfully transformed into products.
