The Purity Of Cotton In Xinjiang Should Not Be Tarnished

Xinjiang Cotton

Since the end of March, the Anti China farce directed and performed by some western countries with Xinjiang cotton as the starting point has continued to ferment. In response to the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States brandishing sanctions against China on the pretext of the so-called Xinjiang human rights issue based on lies and false information, China immediately made a solemn stand, made solemn representations, launched a strong counterattack, and adopted heavier sanctions against the relevant personnel and entities of relevant countries.

The sinister intentions of some western countries to interfere in China's internal affairs and try to curb China's development are obvious. To expose the truth and safeguard dignity, the Chinese government and people have demonstrated their firm will to safeguard national sovereignty and development interests with practical actions.

Strong counter measures against unreasonable sanctions

Recently, the European Union, citing the so-called "human rights issue" in Xinjiang, has swung its big stick at China. The European Union announced on March 22 a series of sanctions against officials and entities in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Wall Street Journal reported. Subsequently, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada joined the EU and announced sanctions.

In this regard, the Chinese Ministry of foreign affairs has repeatedly strongly condemned and made solemn representations. At the same time, from March 22 to March 27, China successively took countervailing measures against relevant individuals and entities in the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. Within a week, China completed a comprehensive counterattack against western manipulation of the Xinjiang issue and unilateral sanctions against China.

"China's counter-measures are moderate, focusing on precision attacks, especially on the EU's countermeasures, which are fast, accurate and ruthless. China reacted quickly and accurately against the core Anti China forces of the European Union, and the strength was stronger than that of the European side. " Yan Jin, executive director of the European Studies Center of Renmin University of China, told the newspaper that "the statement and Counter-measures of the Chinese Ministry of foreign affairs demonstrate the firm will and ability of the Chinese government to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, and also issue a serious warning to western countries and Anti China forces, which has a strong deterrent effect."

"China's countermeasures have created a whole new situation," EU foreign and security policy high representative Josep Borelli acknowledged on March 22 In today's international disputes, the most important thing is still strength, according to the website of Le Monde. China's counterattack has also taught Europe a lesson.

On March 24, Germany's Frankfurt report published an editorial entitled "tough is useless", saying that when the European Union imposed sanctions against China on the basis of "human rights" for the first time in 30 years, Beijing carried out anti sanctions. The EU is dancing on the tip of a knife. China is no longer the developing country 30 years ago, but a rising world power. China has the ability and will to counter Western pressure.

At the moment when the Chinese government intervened against the regime, the public voice of "I support Xinjiang cotton" resounded through the Chinese Internet. After the Swedish clothing brand H & M was exposed to boycott Xinjiang cotton because of the so-called "forced labor", more foreign enterprises were exposed to have similar words and deeds. This practice of "eating Chinese rice while smashing China's bowl" has continuously triggered a wave of criticism in China.

After a number of international clothing brands boycotted Xinjiang cotton in the past two years, a Swiss based non-profit organization, BCI, emerged. Last year, the organization suspended the granting of BCI cotton licenses in Xinjiang on the grounds of so-called "forced labor", which led to the boycott of Xinjiang cotton by several foreign brands. Behind BCI's push to boycott Xinjiang cotton, political manipulation is indispensable. According to public information, USAID is an important sponsor of BCI, and there are a large number of representatives of European and American retail brands on the BCI Council.

Expose and criticize the arrogance and prejudice of the West

According to Reuters, senior U.S. officials have said that the U.S. government "is in contact with European governments every day on China related issues" and called the EU sanctions against China a "European roadshow.".

"The EU has taken the lead in imposing sanctions on China because of the political needs of some major powers." Yan Jin analyzed that the EU wants to rebuild the transatlantic partnership with the United States, so it hopes to send its name to the US government by acting as a vanguard on issues related to Xinjiang.

The Wall Street Journal commented that the U.S. government believes that joint action is particularly needed to ensure the effectiveness of sanctions against China. In addition, even if the economic punishment is relatively small, it can at least establish a "diplomatic co-ordinated trend" and be "deterred" by public condemnation.

"The world should laugh at the United States and pretend to care about Uighurs." Caitlin Johnstone, an independent Australian journalist, wrote on today's Russian website that we once again hear the United States chattering about the so-called "plight of Chinese Uighurs", but we should ask any Islamic country bombed by the United States. The consistent policy of the U.S. government is to dishonestly weaponize the issue of "human rights". It does not care about the Chinese Uighurs, nor does it care about its own accusations, which are full of obvious plot loopholes, and only cares about weakening the main strategic opponents on the world stage. The best response to America is ridicule and ridicule.

"European and American countries look at the Xinjiang related issues with colored glasses of ideological prejudice, and their main purpose is to suppress China. It doesn't matter what the truth is, and they don't care Yan Jin said that for a long time, the rights and interests of ethnic minorities and human rights in Xinjiang have been an important topic for western countries to hype and stigmatize China. Based on the untrue "reports" of a small number of Anti China scholars, European and American countries put "genocide", "forced labor" and "violation of human rights" on China's head. In fact, western countries have done this to the indigenous people and ethnic minorities in history. Now they want to stand on the moral high ground, regard themselves as "teachers of human rights", and interfere in China's internal affairs with arrogance. They intend to stigmatize China, isolate and weaken China internationally, hinder China's stable development, and force China to bow to the West.

Although the United States wants to draw European allies to "encircle China", the US and European countries cannot represent the international community. China's extensive "circle of friends" has also surprised the West. At the recently concluded session of the UN Human Rights Council, more than 80 countries spoke jointly or individually in support of China's legitimate position on the Xinjiang issue.

"Arab countries and Islamic countries firmly stand in the position of supporting China and support China's practice on issues involving Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Taiwan, because facts have proved that what China has done is completely correct." Jabala, a member of the Egyptian Foreign Affairs Committee and a columnist for the pyramid newspaper, said that he had visited Xinjiang for many times and found that the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang had complete freedom of religious belief and a happy life, and there was no oppression or detention in concentration camps as advocated by the West. Now the west is putting together an anti China alliance because they are afraid of China's development and strength, so they want to take advantage of public opinion to suppress China.

Cooperation, not confrontation

"The EU should deal with China," the German daily Baden reported, announcing for the first time in more than 30 years that the EU imposed sanctions on Beijing. But EU sanctions are unlikely to achieve their goals. European politicians are playing a dangerous game, and sanctions are a questionable path. If this dangerous game upgrades and spirals up, in the end, there are only losers, no winners.

German news television reported that both the European Union and China knew that if the dispute escalated, it would not be in the interests of both sides. China is the EU's largest trading partner. Now both sides need to sit at a table and negotiate.

"There are major obstacles to the establishment of a comprehensive alliance between the EU and the United States on China." Political news network of the United States commented that strong business interest groups in Europe are more interested in the China EU investment agreement than they are about Hong Kong and Xinjiang issues.

Yan Jin believes that the Western camp is not monolithic, and there are many differences between the EU and the United States in China policy and interests in China. There is no strategic competition between China and Europe. China is the largest trading partner of the EU. The EU attaches more importance to seeking "European sovereignty" and seeking strategic independence different from that of the United States. Therefore, the relationship between big powers will present the situation of cooperation, competition and confrontation in the future.

In the United States and Europe, there has always been a rational voice against sanctions against China. According to the guardian, although the sanctions against China have been approved by the 27 EU governments, there are also criticisms within the EU. Hungarian foreign minister sialto said on social media on March 22 that "nothing can be changed except further poisoning China EU relations". He said that in the context of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, "what should be done now is to save lives, not sanctions."

Facing the current complex and changeable international situation, Yan Jin believes that the most important thing is to do our own affairs well, maintain economic development, scientific and technological progress, stability and unity at home, and actively create a good external environment with peace, development, cooperation and win-win situation as the starting point. At the same time, it is unswervingly committed to safeguarding the core national interests such as national dignity, sovereign independence and territorial integrity, and should do so when necessary.
