Stricter Fuel Consumption Standards Push Up New Energy Integral PriceTesla And BYD May Earn More Than 2 Billion Each

On April 9, the Ministry of industry and information technology announced the average fuel consumption of passenger car enterprises and the score of new energy vehicles in 2020.

From the perspective of the whole industry, in 2020, domestic automobile enterprises will generate 4.2 million positive new energy points, 920 million negative new energy points and 328 new energy total points; 10.57 million negative fuel consumption points, 3.91 million positive fuel consumption points and - 6.66 million fuel consumption points.

According to the requirements of "measures for parallel management of average fuel consumption of passenger car enterprises and new energy vehicle points" (hereinafter referred to as "double points" policy), the average fuel consumption of all vehicles sold by automobile enterprises must meet certain energy-saving standards. If it exceeds the standard, the enterprise must offset the negative average fuel consumption score by producing new energy vehicles with positive new energy points. If it is not enough to offset, it is necessary to purchase new energy points from other enterprises through transactions. At the same time, the new energy vehicle points need to reach a certain assessment proportion, which will lead to negative new energy points, which also need to be offset by buying points from other automobile enterprises through transactions.

Although the sales volume of China's new energy vehicles will increase in 2020, the positive score of new energy will also increase. However, due to the change of integral calculation standards, stringent emission standards, and the implementation of new energy integral proportion requirements, the fuel consumption score of traditional automobile enterprises has decreased rapidly in recent years. In 2020, there is a huge gap in fuel consumption negative integral compensation. In this case, the effect of new energy points offsetting fuel consumption points becomes more and more prominent, and the price of integral trading is also rising.

Previously, some media reports said that FAW Volkswagen will buy points from Tesla China at a price of 3000 yuan / min. 21st century economic reporter also learned from a number of industry insiders that the trading price of new energy points has increased rapidly in the past two years. From the previous two or three hundred yuan one point before 2018, it has risen to nearly 1000 yuan by 2020, and the price has risen to 2000-3000 yuan by 2021.

The effect of double integral policy replacing financial subsidies to promote the development of China's new energy vehicle industry is showing. Under the pressure of huge integral, the "big negative integral" represented by joint venture automobile enterprises is accelerating the development of new energy vehicle business.

"The pressure of fuel consumption points of traditional automobile enterprises is high, which will promote the accelerated growth of new energy vehicle market in 2021." On April 11, Cui Dongshu, Secretary General of the all China Riding Association, told reporters of the 21st century economic report.

Tesla, BYD or more than 2 billion each

According to the average fuel consumption of passenger car enterprises and new energy vehicle points in 2020, Tesla China, BYD and SAIC GM Wuling are respectively in the top three of the new energy positive score list, and these three automobile enterprises are also the top three in the sales list of new energy vehicles last year.

Among them, Tesla generated 86.03 million positive points for new energy vehicles, 75.42 million for BYD and BYD industry, and 44.05 million for SAIC General Motors Wuling.

It is worth noting that the top 10 new energy points in 2020 are all local enterprises except Tesla China. In addition to the above three enterprises, there are BAIC, GAC, great wall, Chery, Jianghuai (including Weilai), as well as Weima automobile and Xiaopeng automobile, the new automobile manufacturing forces. The new energy points of the above enterprises all exceed 100000.

If the points are sold according to the 3000 yuan / point previously circulated on the market, Tesla can earn nearly 2.5 billion yuan for the points trading. Many enterprises can also earn hundreds of millions of yuan through integral trading.

Of course, not all enterprises with positive new energy points can do so. For example, although Great Wall Motor generated 191200 new energy points, its negative fuel consumption score reached 369000. The integral that oneself produces is not enough to compensate completely.

At the same time, the new policy of double points issued in June 2020 puts forward clear assessment proportion requirements for new energy vehicle points of passenger car enterprises, and many enterprises have produced negative new energy points.

Specifically, the new energy points of joint venture brands and independent brands show two completely different situations.

The automobile enterprises with negative new energy points are mainly those with high sales volume of fuel vehicles. Among them, the auto enterprise with the highest new energy negative score is FAW Volkswagen, the domestic passenger car market sales champion in 2020, which has generated a total of 139000 new energy negative points, and Geely Automobile, the sales champion of China's independent brand, has also generated more than 100000 negative new energy points.

In addition to Geely, the other 9 auto companies in the top 10 of new energy negative points are all joint venture enterprises, including FAW Volkswagen, SAIC Volkswagen, Dongfeng Co., Ltd., GAC Honda, SAIC GM, Dongfeng Honda, Beijing Benz, FAW Toyota and Beijing Hyundai.

As the pace of promoting new energy products in China is slower than that of China's own brands, joint ventures have generated a large number of negative new energy points. The reporter of 21st century economic report found that among the mainstream joint ventures, only BMW Brilliance and DPCA have positive new energy points.

Although many car companies have announced that they will increase the introduction of new energy vehicles in China, due to their huge base, the above-mentioned automobile enterprises are facing greater challenges if they want to achieve the proportion of new energy points.

Volkswagen and Geely are under great pressure

In addition to the fact that some auto companies need to buy points to compensate for the negative new energy points, the compensation of fuel consumption points will further promote the increase of integral transaction price.

According to the statistics of 21st century economic report, the fuel consumption points of domestic passenger car enterprises from 2016 to 2020 are 10.11 million, 10.52 million, 7.17 million, 1.5 million and - 6.66 million respectively.

Before 2018, the state's requirements on fuel consumption targets of passenger car enterprises were relatively relaxed, and the fuel consumption points of the whole industry were extremely abundant at that time. However, in 2020, due to the production of 6.66 million negative fuel consumption points, the demand of automobile enterprises for integral trading will be increased.

In fact, in order to ensure the realization of the planning goal of "by 2025, the average fuel consumption of new passenger cars will reach 4.0 L / 100 km, and the proportion of production and sales of new energy vehicles will reach 20% of the total number of vehicles", the fuel consumption standard will be increased year by year.

The target of fuel consumption in 2020 will be increased from 5.8 L / 100 km in 2019 to 5.4 L / 100 km, but the actual fuel consumption will be 6.0 L / 100 km. On the whole, the situation is more severe, traditional automobile enterprises are facing greater pressure on fuel consumption, and this pressure may be further expanded with the improvement of fuel consumption standard year by year.

Specifically speaking, Geely Auto Company has the highest negative fuel consumption score, while Chang'an auto, Great Wall Motor and FAW with higher sales volume in their own brands are also on the high side. FAW Volkswagen, SAIC Volkswagen and other joint ventures with higher sales volume also have higher negative fuel consumption points. However, although the sales volume of Japanese car companies is high, the situation of negative fuel consumption points is obviously better than that of German and American cars thanks to hybrid models.

Combined with the new energy points and fuel consumption points, the internal affiliated enterprises of BAIC, GAC, SAIC and other large groups can conduct integral transactions, and joint venture automobile enterprises can obtain points from the transactions of independent automobile enterprises under the same group.

However, most of the enterprises of FAW, Dongfeng, Chang'an and Geely Automobile are facing greater integral pressure, so they need to find new energy vehicle enterprises to conduct new energy point trading.

On the whole, the most severe situation is the north and South Volkswagen and Geely. FAW Volkswagen, SAIC Volkswagen and Geely Automobile rank first, second and third in the negative score of new energy and the second, fourth and first in the negative score of fuel consumption.

These three enterprises will vigorously promote the layout of new energy vehicles this year. North and South Volkswagen has introduced pure electric vehicles on Volkswagen MEB platform. Geely Automobile has not only launched a brand new brand of krypton, but also conducted in-depth cooperation with Baidu and other enterprises.
