Beijing time 9 news, UNIQLO's parent company, Japan Xun marketing group, admitted on Friday that South Korea's increasingly fierce boycott of Japanese goods had had an impact on sales of UNIQLO, but declined to disclose specific figures.

A spokesman for the company also said that the decision to close a UNIQLO store in downtown Seoul was not related to the boycott, but because the lease of the shop expired and the company decided not to renew it.

Japan decided to tighten export restrictions on high-tech materials to South Korea last month, triggering a strong reaction from South Korean consumers and launching a boycott of Japanese goods in South Korea.

"We can confirm that sales in South Korea have been affected," said a spokesman for XXX group.
