Indonesia Will Implement Temporary Defense Measures For Imported Fabrics

Before September 18th (2019), Indonesia launched a defense investigation on imported fabrics (Fabrics). The products range from 5 categories, including cotton, long staple cloth, short staple cloth, special cloth and knitted fabric, to 107 tariff codes (for example).

In November 5th this year, Indonesia informed the World Trade Organization (WTO) that serious damage to the domestic industry was caused by the increase in imports. The temporary defense measures of 11535 rupiah and 11535 rupiah per kilogram per kilogram of the regulated products (5 major categories, 107 8 digit tariff code products) will be implemented for 200 days and will be effective after the announcement of the Indonesian finance minister's decree. The products in 2018 were mainly imported from China (67.86%), South Korea (11.07%), Hongkong (6.76%) and Taiwan (5.65%). China's products were not included in the list.
