On July 11, the 2024 China International Fabric Design Competition and the 52nd (Autumn and Winter 2025/26) Chinese Popular Fabrics Finalist Review Meeting was held in Yaying Group. This event gathered nearly 4000 high-quality fabrics from more than 470 enterprises, fully demonstrating the leading and forward-looking nature of Chinese popular fabrics in pattern design, color application, technological innovation and quality molding.
1、 Industry synergy, tell the story of Chinese fabrics well
Li Binhong, director of the National Textile Product Development Center and judge of the competition director, pointed out in his speech that this review meeting coincided with the 60th anniversary of the founding of the China Textile Information Center and the 36th anniversary of the founding of Yaying Group. During this process, China's textile industry has moved from promoting the substitution of domestic fabrics for imports to a higher level of innovative development. She said that the next decade will be a decade of the rise of Chinese brands. She hopes to work hand in hand with industry colleagues to guide China's textile industry to stand on the top of the world with product innovation, tell Chinese stories in fashion language, and enhance national and cultural self-confidence.
Ni Meihua, Vice President of Yaying Group, pointed out that the Yaying team attaches great importance to the research and development of fabrics. In order to meet the growing demand for diversified lifestyles of consumers, Yaying, through the cooperation of upstream and downstream partners in the industry, has been tracing the origin of China's natural good materials, creating a green, professional and flexible supply chain, and promoting the sustainable development of the enterprise.
Chen Xinfu, vice general manager of market brand of Fujian Yongrong Jinjiang Co., Ltd., said in his speech that in the future, Yongrong will further strengthen cooperation with China Textile Information Center in fabric application, brand alliance and other aspects, so as to create more value for industry and consumers with more differentiated product development and promotion.
2、 Innovative design and ecological environment protection: perfect integration of fashion and comfort
Wang Xu, Creative Director of the Fashion Trend Department of China Textile Information Center, interpreted the Fashion Trend of Chinese Textile Fabrics in Autumn and Winter 2025/2026 from the dimensions of demand change, market challenges, and policy drivers. He pointed out that multi-component interwoven products will become a more popular category in the future, especially the externally worn blended fabric is an important direction of product innovation.
"The integration of twilight and technological texture in the future can give more luster and texture to the fabric; neutral colors and circular colors such as earth color and environmental color are popular with consumers and have become the focus of color application." COLORO ® Color expert Li Yi shared the 2025/26AW Color Trends and Applications in four directions: surreal color, sensory color, cultural color and ecological color.
Liu Yong, the design director of Yonghui Fashion Culture (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., believes that the products in this review show two highlights: one is the fashionable pattern, which innovatively integrates renewable, natural and man-made fibers, in line with the current trend of environmental protection; Second, the technological functions are novel. For example, the fabric has the windproof, breathable and other properties required by light outdoor clothing, which is close to consumer needs.
Chen Baojian, deputy director of the National Textile Product Development Center, pointed out that the fabrics in the ecological and sustainable category of this contest presented two significant characteristics. First of all, the use of materials covers a wide range, covering almost all eco-friendly materials. Secondly, the product design makes full use of the advantages of different fibers. For example, through the blending of chemical fibers and cellulose fibers, the perfect combination of functionality and comfort is achieved.
According to Song Fujia, director of the Science and Technology Information Department of China Textile Information Center, more dyeing and finishing technologies have been combined in the production process of fabrics this year to form functional superposition, which can adapt to more consumption scenarios. At the same time, with more recognition of the concepts of regeneration and degradation, the development trend of green ecological fabrics is becoming more obvious; In addition, the popularity of outdoor economy also makes many fabric enterprises pay more attention to the application of special high-performance fibers.
"The use of environmentally friendly fibers, such as bio based, recycled fibers and liquid dyed fibers, and the transformation from post-treatment to material innovation are the remarkable features of the fabrics in the evaluation." Zhang Ruiyun, professor and director of the Department of Textile Design and Industrial Economics of Donghua University, believes that fabric enterprises should achieve the perfect combination of beauty, quality and connotation of fabrics through raw material and process innovation.
"The application of environmentally friendly materials has become an industry trend, but the true environmental protection should return to its roots, giving priority to the use of natural materials such as cotton, hemp, and mulberry silk. At the same time, the performance of materials should be improved through scientific research and development." Zhao Liya, deputy general manager and design director of Zhejiang Balut Garment Co., Ltd., said that the essence of clothing is to serve the wearer and meet their comfort and functional needs, Then comes decorative.
3、 Functional technology and demand orientation: realize the double improvement of value and scenario
At the review meeting of this competition, the share of functional fabrics has increased significantly. Many enterprises have increased their efforts in technological innovation to achieve breakthroughs in differentiated product development, won wide recognition of clothing brands, and inspired them to put forward relevant opinions.
"From the perspective of underwear design, I would like to see innovative fabrics that are skin friendly, soft and environmentally friendly." Hou Yanhui, general manager of design and research and brand partner of Shengshi Rujin (Beijing) Clothing Co., Ltd., said that fabric enterprises can increase the use of new technologies such as microcapsules, phase change thermostats, negative oxygen ions, and fully mobilize the emotional value of consumers.
"In the past, most men's clothes used natural materials, but now they have fully considered the commuting needs and aesthetic tastes of young people, turned to outdoor sports scenes, and more efforts have been made in product design to combine functional needs with raw materials to make clothing better." Li Hongli, Deputy General Manager and Creative Director of ZIOZIA Business Department of Jiumuwang Group, from the perspective of men's clothing development, The inevitability of fabric product change is pointed out.
Wingaid Fashion Group pays attention to the quality, style and texture of fabrics. In recent years, it has increased the proportion of natural materials and cross scene multi-functional fabrics. Qi Aiju, its supply chain director, said that in terms of scientific and technological innovation, the use of functional coating additives and composite materials in the products under review has brought more convenience to garment development.
Xu Wei, director of functional categories of Bosiden, pointed out that when choosing fabrics, the brand focuses on warmth, while pursuing skin friendly, breathable and environmental protection. In the outdoor field, the fabric needs to integrate wind and rain protection, sun protection and warmth preservation to bring excellent experience to consumers.
"The fabrics participating in this review are outstanding in printing and dyeing technology, structure setting, color matching and other aspects, and many products can be directly used in clothing." Luo Hao, material director of Yaying Group Co., Ltd., said that he hoped that fabrics could add more functional attributes to recycled fibers and synthetic fibers to meet the needs of consumers in outdoor sports.
"Sports brands will focus more on the functionality and appearance of fabric products, explore their own sporting characteristics, and meet the demand of the consumer market for outdoor leisure products." Yan Yan, manager of Li Ning's Materials Department, believes that with sports leisure becoming the mainstream consumer scene, the overall market is paying more attention to the development and design of functional chemical fiber products.
Zhang Zhongyan, deputy general manager of Ningbo Boyang Professional Wear Co., Ltd., said that the fabric design should focus on the coordination and unity of fabric texture, drape and style. When selecting materials, the brand pays attention to the properties of stability, durability and environmental protection. It is hoped that domestic functional environmental fiber can be widely used in professional clothing to help enterprises reduce costs and increase efficiency. Guo Mingfeng, a fabric expert, participated in the fabric selection simultaneously.
