New Material: New Ultra Black Wood Fiber With Light Absorption Of 99%
Scientists at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada created an ultra black substance (a new type of wood fiber product), named Nxylon ("niks uh lon"), and has registered a trademark.
In the process of pursuing the extreme hydrophobicity of wood surface, scientists accidentally unlocked the new look of wood. By exposing selected basswood samples to high-energy plasma, the structure of porous cells inside the wood has undergone subtle and magical changes at the end of the incision, giving birth to this unprecedented miracle of light absorption.
With its unique velvet texture, Nxylon transforms the wood surface into an amazing "extremely black" state, and its reflectivity to visible light is surprisingly reduced to less than 1%, which is far lower than the reflectivity of ordinary black paint at least 2.5%, showing an almost perfect light absorption ability.
It is particularly worth mentioning that the production process of this material has achieved a leap in green and environmental protection. It does not need any chemical additives in the whole process, and does not produce any harmful liquid waste, which perfectly conforms to the trend of the times of sustainable development.
In addition, its wide application potential is even more impressive, not only limited to basswood, but also applicable to other species, indicating a broad prospect for large-scale production.
In the field of science and technology, the application prospect of Nxylon is bright. In astronomical observation, it can effectively reduce stray light interference and significantly improve the clarity of observation images; In the field of clean energy, the combination with solar cells is expected to significantly improve the photoelectric conversion efficiency and promote a new leap in energy utilization.
In the art and luxury industry, Nxylon, with its unique texture and profound black, has become an ideal material for making high-end watch dials, jewelry and other works of art, perfectly replacing the traditional expensive ebony and rosewood, and injecting new vitality and inspiration into the luxury market.
