Cross Border E-Commerce

In the first half of this year, China's cross-border e-commerce import and export continued to maintain a steady growth momentum. The growth rate of cross-border e-commerce import and export reached 10.5%, 4.4 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate of national foreign trade. Next, the Ministry of Commerce will focus on optimizing the service ecology and deepening international cooperation to promote the development of cross-border e-commerce. This is the news that reporters learned from the press conference themed "Promoting high-quality development" held by the State Council Information Office on August 2.

At the meeting, Li Xingqian, Director of the Department of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Commerce, said that in the first half of the year, from the market perspective, China's imports and exports to France, Belgium, Spain, Malaysia and other countries grew relatively fast. From the perspective of commodities, consumer goods are the main export products, and some high value-added products also have a very good growth momentum. For example, the export of office equipment increased by 50.7%, and the export of cameras increased by 30.7%. Goods imported from overseas are also very popular with domestic consumers. For example, food imports increased by 22.8%, luggage imports increased by 70.8%, and red wine imports increased by 55.4%. From a regional perspective, coastal areas such as Guangdong and Zhejiang are the main force of cross-border e-commerce import and export, accounting for nearly 90% of the country's cross-border e-commerce import and export. From the perspective of enterprise expectations, the Ministry of Commerce recently conducted a questionnaire survey, and the data shows that nearly 80% of cross-border e-commerce enterprises are optimistic about the growth momentum in the second half of the year.

Li Xingqian said that in the next step, the Ministry of Commerce will implement the deployment of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, continue to adhere to the principle of encouraging innovation, inclusiveness and prudence, and focus on two aspects of work:

On the one hand, optimize the service ecology. We will implement special policies for cross-border e-commerce, support the development of cross-border e-commerce enabling industrial belts, and guide local governments to cultivate a number of development benchmarks. Promote experience exchange between cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot areas through on-site meetings and other means. Support cross-border e-commerce brand cultivation. At the same time, it is also necessary to give full play to the role of local industry organizations, improve the self-discipline level of the industry, guide cross-border e-commerce enterprises to operate in compliance, compete orderly, and actively fulfill their social responsibilities. In the second half of the year, the 136th Canton Fair, also known as the "Autumn Fair", will continue to set up a special exhibition area for cross-border e-commerce. China's logistics enterprises will be encouraged to strengthen international cooperation with the host country's delivery enterprises, and in particular, efforts will be made to improve the performance capability of cross-border e-commerce enterprises in the "last mile".

On the other hand, we should deepen international cooperation, actively participate in international multilateral and bilateral negotiations, and use the communication mechanisms of the Joint Commission on Bilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation and the Working Group on Trade Facilitation to promote the experience, practices and results of China's cross-border e-commerce development. Vigorously develop the "Silk Road E-commerce", and support international exchanges and cooperation at all levels of the cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone, industries and enterprises. Encourage cross-border e-commerce platforms to expand the categories and service functions of goods, not only to support the healthy development of consumer goods e-commerce platforms mainly oriented to the C-end, but also to support the innovative development of industrial equipment, semi-finished products and parts e-commerce platforms mainly oriented to the B-end.
