On May 6th, the online video conference of the board of directors of the International Federation of textile manufacturers (hereinafter referred to as the International Federation of Textiles) was held at 17:00 Beijing time. All 13 board members of the International Federation of spinning and 3 former chairmen attended the meeting. The conference was chaired by the chairman of the International Textile Federation and the Federation of Korean fiber industry.

The former chairman of the International Federation of spinning, the former chairman of the China Textile Industry Federation, Wang Tiankai, vice chairman of the International Textile Federation, Sun Ruizhe, President of the China Textile Industry Federation, member of the international textile reform committee, Xu Yingxin, chairman of the textile industry branch of the China Council for the promotion of international trade, vice chairman of the international textile and fiber application Committee, and President of the China Association of textile industry. Li Lingshen, chairman of the International Textile Federation textile Committee, President of China Household Textile Industry Association, Yang Zhaohua, Deputy Secretary General of China Textile Industry Federation and director of Foreign Affairs Office, Yuan Hongping, director of social responsibility Office of China Textile union Yan Yan attended the meeting.

In the face of the global spread of the new crown disease, this conference has added new topics, inviting each member to speak on the domestic and international market environment, the challenges and difficulties faced by the industry and enterprises in their countries or regions affected by the epidemic, and the thinking and judgement of the future trends of the industry.

At the meeting, Sun Ruizhe spoke on behalf of the China Textile Industry Federation and the former chairman of the International Federation of textile mills, Wang Tiankai.

Sun Ruizhe said that after the outbreak and rapid spread of the epidemic, China Textile Federation expressed concern and condolences to friends and colleagues from various countries and regions, and provided urgently needed materials for epidemic prevention and control to the countries with severe disease control situation, and provided procurement services for Chinese medical materials to relevant agencies and enterprises. China Textile Federation is willing to continue to provide help and support to friends including the members of the International Federation of spinning and weaving.

With regard to the current situation of China's epidemic prevention and control and the overall situation of the industry, Sun Ruizhe said that the phased effect of China's epidemic prevention and control was further consolidated, and the order of economic and social operation was accelerated. The situation of resuming and resuming production of Chinese enterprises is generally stable, and the industrial chain coordination has basically returned to normal. At the same time, China's textile enterprises are also faced with problems such as weak demand and tight capital chain.

On the overall situation of China's industry, Sun Ruizhe introduced: the textile industry added value dropped 16.5% in the first quarter compared with the same period last year; as the demand for protective clothing and mask increased, industrial textiles increased by 11.5% over the same period last year. Domestic clothing consumption in the first quarter decreased by 17.8% compared with the same period last year, while retail sales decreased by 32% compared with the same period last year, while online sales decreased by 15% compared with the same period last year, while exports decreased by 18% compared with the same period last year. The export scale of clothing products is lower than that of textile exports. This phenomenon is the first time in this century. In March, the utilization rate of most textile enterprises was around 80%, but since the demand in Europe and the United States dropped sharply, the utilization rate of capacity has been decreasing since April.

At the same time, the Chinese government has introduced a series of measures, including phasing out social insurance and deferred taxes, so as to stabilize enterprise development confidence. Enterprises themselves are also accelerating innovation and development, optimizing technology and product mix, and developing more diversified export and domestic demand markets.

Sun Ruizhe suggested that the textile industry of all parts of the country should work together to meet challenges and help enterprises in the industry return to the right track as soon as possible.

First, we should strengthen international cooperation in anti epidemic materials, especially medical textiles, and jointly protect the lives and safety of people and medical personnel. The two is to maintain global supply chain stability and industrial safety, call on governments to formulate temporary stimulus policies to ensure liquidity, and call on industry enterprises to fulfill their commitment to labor rights, social responsibility and sustainable supply chain; three, maintain global open and cooperative environment, call on governments to reduce tariffs, remove barriers, smooth trade, maintain market openness and oppose trade insurance. Protectionism.

At the meeting, the chairman of the International Federation of textiles, Cheng Qi He, said that the epidemic was like a "big storm" which impacted the industries of all countries, including the global textile and garment industry. The global textile industry is in an unprecedented environment, and no action plan has yet been formed to deal with the crisis.

At present, the industry is facing double challenges. On the one hand, the global supply chain has been seriously damaged; on the other hand, global demand is seriously insufficient. The latest International Textile Federation new crown impact survey results show that industry enterprises are facing problems such as cancellation of orders, delay in orders and so on. The number of orders in the industry has dropped by about 40% compared with previous years, and sales in 2020 are expected to decline by an average of 30% over 2019.

Cheng Qi crane pointed out that in the short term, our industry enterprises are trying to tide over the current difficulties. From a long-term perspective, first of all, we need to sum up experience and lessons from this crisis. Secondly, we should pay attention to the demand changes in the coming months, optimize product categories and plan the output rationally. Third, we must pay attention to the impact of this crisis on the industrial chain. The consumption pattern is changing. We should adjust the speed, price, output and quality to adapt to the changing consumer demand.

Cheng Qi crane said that in the current difficult times, the International Federation of spinning and weaving industry should play an important role in the industry: first, information sharing, sharing the industry information through the International Federation of communications, such as: through the 3 new crown epidemic impact survey, the status and future prospects of the industry are analyzed and judged. The two is to play a representative role, for example, the International Federation of textile industry representatives, signed a joint statement signed by the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA), called on governments from all over the world to give our industry financial support, calling on brands and retailers to work together to deal with the cancellation and delay of orders. The three is to play a role in communication. In this challenging era, we should give full play to the role of the international textile alliance platform, help industry enterprises learn from each other and support each other, and unite with members, colleagues and friends from all parts of the world to join hands in coping with the crisis, and to show and strengthen the influence of the International Federation of textile industry in the global textile industry.

The members of the board of directors attending the meeting said in a speech that the global crisis needs to be dealt with jointly by all countries and regions, and that the stability of the industrial chain is very important in the face of risks. Stabilize the industrial chain, stabilize the enterprises, support employment, and the economy has the power of recovery; in the face of the epidemic, industry organizations and international organizations have become an indispensable force in the global fight against the epidemic. We must unite and appeal to all countries and regions, as well as industry and enterprises, to support the role of international organizations in combating epidemic and economic recovery.

As an important leading force in the global textile industry, the International Federation of spinning and weaving industry has to join the relevant international organizations and its global membership strength to strengthen information sharing, exchange of experience, technical cooperation and policy synergy, so as to jointly contribute to the global epidemic.

The board of directors is an important work conference of the International Federation of textile industry, which is held two times a year to pay attention to the stability and development of the industrial chain. It mainly discusses the nominations of directors, vice chairmen, financial officers and other board members; reports the preparatory progress of the annual meeting and other industry conferences, and reviews the progress of the implementation of the membership and the leading projects of the International Federation of textiles, and reviews and approves the financial statements of the previous year and the financial budget of the year. And the next year's financial plan, review the investment returns report of last year's international spinning Union and discuss the investment portfolio strategy this year.

The conference discussed the 2020, 2021 and 2022 international spinning Federation annual meeting. The 2020 international spinning Federation annual meeting will be held in Seoul, South Korea on October 20-22. There is no plan to postpone or adjust the meeting date. 2021 will be held in Switzerland; 2022 will be held in China.

The meeting decided: in accordance with the International Federation of spinning regulations, nominated Sun Ruizhe, vice chairman of the international spinning Union, took the chair of the International Textile Federation in October of this year.
