Price Rises In Hongkong

The Hongkong census and Statistics Department announced that inflation slowed to 4.7% in February.

It also dropped to 5.4%.

Basic inflation fell to 6.1% in the first two months, mainly due to the same slowdown in food prices and the increase in private housing rents.

Electricity and gas and water recorded a 17.4% decrease, while durable goods also fell by 1.8%.


The Hongkong census and Statistics Department announced in March 22nd that overall consumer prices rose 4.7% in February, down from 6.1% in January.

Excluding all government one-time bail outs, the basic inflation rate was 5.4%, also lower than 6.7% in January.


Global food prices have peaking and Hong Kong since the beginning of 2011.

Economics

Growth is slowing down, and inflation is expected to fall this year.


In February, the annual CPI was recorded in the category of smoking and drinking (16%) and housing (8.1%).

The categories fall in electricity, gas and water (down 17.4%) and durable goods (down 1.8%).
