Since its first exhibition in London in 1851, World Expo has enjoyed the reputation of "Olympic Games in the economic, technological and cultural fields" because of its rapid development and has held 40 sessions successively.

According to the latest regulations of the International Exhibition Bureau, the world exposition is divided into two categories according to its nature, scale and duration: one is the registration category (formerly known as comprehensive) World Expo, the exhibition period is usually 6 months, 5 times a year; the other is the accreditation class (formerly known as professional) World Expo, the exhibition period is usually 3 months, and is held between the two registered World Expo.

The registered World Exposition is different from the general trade promotion and economic investment exhibition. It is the highest level exposition in the world.

The international exhibition bureau is an intergovernmental international organization specializing in the implementation, coordination and management of the World Expo Convention and the assurance of World Expo level. It has 89 member states as of November 2002.

In May 1993, the International Exhibition Bureau formally accepted China as the forty-sixth member country.

According to the election rules, each member of the International Exhibition Office has the right to vote for one vote regardless of size.

In the first round of voting, if a candidate city gets more than 2/3 of the vote, the city will become the host city of the 2010 World Exposition.

If none of the candidate cities in the first round of vote gets the required votes, a second round of balloting will be carried out, but those who have the least votes in the first ballot will no longer compete.

In the second round of voting, candidate cities with more than 2/3 votes were elected.

If there is still no more than 2/3 of the votes of the city, the third round of voting will continue according to the above way until the 2 cities with the largest number of votes are elected.

The final competition will be carried out by these 2 cities, among which more votes are given.
