The cold winter has come, and people have put on thick winter clothes, down jackets, woolen jackets, knitwear, stockings... These are all inextricably linked with petrochemical industry. The rapid development of polyester, acrylic, nylon and other synthetic fiber products as well as colorful dyes make clothing It is not only beautiful but also affordable, allowing the old and young to dress up as they wish. It is no exaggeration to say that, to a large extent, petrochemical industry has woven colorful clothes for us.

More than a hundred years ago, spin The materials used are all from natural materials. However, the production of natural fibers such as cotton, linen, silk and wool is easily restricted by natural conditions, and cannot meet the needs of production and life in terms of variety and quantity. People began to produce man-made fibers and synthetic fibers. The natural cellulose that cannot be spun, and the fiber that can be spun after chemical processing is called "man-made fiber", such as artificial cotton and rayon. Simple organic compounds obtained from natural gas, oil and coal can be synthesized into macromolecular compounds through chemical reaction and processing, which is today's "synthetic fiber".

At present, synthetic fibers have become an important part of textile fibers, and the textile consumption of synthetic fibers in the world has exceeded 50% of the total textile fibers. Synthetic fiber is a kind of chemical fiber, which is a general term for chemical fibers made from synthetic polymer compounds. It uses small molecular organic compounds as raw materials to synthesize linear organic macromolecule compounds through addition polymerization. Since the raw materials are made by artificial synthesis, the production is not limited by natural conditions. In short, the so-called "synthetic fiber" refers to the fiber made from raw materials obtained from petrochemical industry to synthesize high molecular polymers, and then spun. Whether nylon, polyester, nylon, vinylon, etc., are synthetic fibers.

The rapid development of petrochemical production technology has promoted the development of synthetic fiber industry. At first, the black oil has become a colorful synthetic fiber with extremely wide application value. In addition to the general superior properties of chemical fibers, such as high strength, light weight, easy washing and drying, good elasticity, and resistance to mildew, different varieties of synthetic fibers also have different unique properties. The synthetic fibers we often use and are familiar with are usually called "six fibers": polypropylene (polypropylene fiber), chlorine fiber (PVC fiber), acrylic (polyacrylonitrile fiber), nylon (polyamide fiber), polyester (polyethylene terephthalate) and vinylon (polyvinyl alcohol formaldehyde fiber). Polypropylene fiber is the lightest fiber. Its density is only three fifths of that of cotton. It has low water absorption and good wear resistance. It is made of polypropylene fiber clothes It is not easy to lose shape, so it is often used to make artificial fur, carpets, mosquito nets, canvas, diapers, etc; Chlorine fiber is resistant to high temperature, acid and alkali, and has excellent thermal insulation, so it is often used as cotton padded clothes, curtains, carpets, chemical factory uniforms, safety tents, etc; Acrylic fiber has the laudatory name of "synthetic wool", which is fluffy, soft, light, good in warmth retention, and is not afraid of moth and mildew, and is suitable for knitting sweaters, woolens, and blankets; Nylon, also known as nylon, has become an excellent material for making sportswear and elastic socks by virtue of its wear resistance and corrosion resistance; Dacron, commonly known as "Dacron", is durable, good in wrinkle resistance and shape retention, easy to wash and dry, and is widely used to make outdoor articles such as outerwear, various bags and tents; Vinylon is soft and warm, so it is called "synthetic cotton". It is mainly used to make knitted fabrics such as underwear, corduroy, cotton sweaters and pants, sweatshirts, etc.

Synthetic fiber has the advantages of being durable, easy to wash and dry, but also has some disadvantages of being difficult to dye and easy to electrified fuzzing. These shortcomings are being overcome constantly, and water absorbing fiber, heat resistant fiber, colored fiber, etc. have come out one after another. The entry of petrochemical products into the textile industry not only promotes the mutual promotion and development of the two industries, but also adds color to people's lives.
