According to the National Bureau of statistics, in 2019, China's garment enterprises above Designated Size achieved a total operating income of 1 trillion and 601 billion 33 million yuan, accounting for 1.51% of the total operating income of Industrial Enterprises above Designated Size in the same year. The total operating income was 105 trillion and 780 billion yuan.

From the perspective of apparel industry chain, all links in the industrial chain include raw material supply, spinning, weaving, printing and dyeing, finishing, garment production, brand clothing management and so on. Since China's accession to the WTO, the export environment has become increasingly loose, and a good trade environment has prompted domestic garment manufacturers to rapidly increase their output to cope with the increasing export orders overseas. Since 2001, the volume of China's garment export trade has increased by four times, making China's textile and garment industry share a large share in international trade. The textile and garment industry chain is also becoming more and more complete in the process of meeting the needs of a large number of international markets, and the competitiveness of all links in the industrial chain has been greatly improved.

In recent years, China's garment industry has developed rapidly. An important factor in the rapid development of the garment industry is the abundant supply of raw materials in our country. The clothing materials mainly made of cotton, linen, wool and silk reflect the characteristics of large supply and regional concentration. Henan and Shandong provinces in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, Hubei, Jiangsu, Anhui and Jiangxi in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are important raw material supply areas for the garment industry. According to the China Industrial and Commercial Research Institute Research Report on market prospects and investment opportunities of China's garment industry in 2020-2025 years The data show that in 2019, the yarn production of five provinces in Fujian, Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Hubei reached 67.08% of the total output of the country, while Xinjiang was the main cotton producing area in China, and the output of Xinjiang cotton accounted for more than 80% of the total cotton output in 2019.
