The agricultural departments of Utah, Wisconsin and Michigan in the United States have confirmed that more than 10000 minks have died due to a new outbreak in mink farms.

More than 8000 minks have died in nine mink farms in three counties of Utah, according to US media reports. The agricultural departments of Wisconsin and Michigan have also confirmed that laboratory test results showed that minks were infected with new coronavirus in local farms.

The health and epidemic prevention departments of the three states all said that the current research showed that the minks were likely to be infected by farm workers, but there was no scientific basis for Minks to transmit the new coronavirus to humans.

According to the US Department of agriculture, the earliest case of mink infected with the new coronavirus was found in Utah on August 14 this year. The local health and epidemic prevention department quarantined the mink farms with the epidemic, but did not carry out large-scale culling.

According to the data, there are 245 mink farms in the United States, which are distributed in 22 states. Wisconsin and Utah are the two states with the largest mink farming industry.

Prior to that, 41 mink farms in Denmark had detected the new coronapneumonia virus, and 20 other farms were suspected to be infected with the virus. On October 1 local time, Danish agriculture and fisheries minister Jensen said all minks infected with the new coronavirus must be slaughtered, which means the measure will kill about one million animals. Earlier, the Netherlands had a similar situation: since April, covid-19 has been found on more than 20 Farms, of which about 1 million minks have been culled. Later, the Spanish government announced that Aragon Autonomous Region decided to kill more than 90000 minks.

At present, mink is the world's top-grade fur, the largest production countries: Northern Europe (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden), North America (the United States, Canada), Russia, China and the Netherlands. Affected by the new coronavirus in Europe and the United States, the global mink production capacity will be further reduced in 2021.
